    Riotur ((t 021/2217-7575; www.riodejaneiro-turismo.com.br/pt) provides , \cellent information on the city of Rio de Janeiro and operates a number of ~,(fices and kiosks around town. At Rio 's international airport ((JC 021/3398­ 2245), you will find a booth in the international arrivals hall of Terminal 1, open Monday through Friday from 6am to 6pm, and Saturday and Sunday from (,am to noon, and one in the international arrivals hall of Terminal 2, open daily I rom 6am to l lpm. There's also a booth in the domestic arrivals hall, open from I~.im to 6pm . People arriving at Rio 's main bus station, Rodoviaria Novo Rio, ,.m pick up information in the arrivals area, from 8am to 8pm (CC 021/2263­ i857). The main Riotur Information Center (t 021/2541-7522) is located ~)n Av. Princesa Isabel 183, Copacabana. Open Monday through Friday from '>,im to 6pm , this office has the largest selection of brochures and information. I his office also operates an information phone line, Alo Rio ((t 021/2542­ 8080), with English-speaking staff. They can be reached Monday through Fri­~lay from 9am to 6pm .

    A must-have is Riotur's Rio Incomparavel booklet, published every 3 months. T his guide in both English and Portuguese lists all tourist attractions, events, fes­i iVals, many useful phone numbers, and contact information. In addition to this hnoklet, Riotur also publishes a number of brochures specifically on outdoor ,ports, museums, and Carnaval. The office in Copacabana is most likely to stock .ill these publications.

    The state of Rio de Janeiro offers tourist information for destinations outside ~,t the city. TurisRio can be reached at CCJ 021/2215-0011; www.turisrio.rj.gov.br . The office, located at Rua da Ajuda 5, sixth floor, Centro, is open Mon­,I;iv through Friday from 9am to 6pm .

    Embratur, the national tourism association, has an office in downtown Rio , at R,ua Uruguaiana 174, eighth floor, Centro (,C~ 021/2509-6017; www.embratur.gov.br ). Unfortunately, this office seems to be perpetually out of brochures and IoIders; however, the website has some good information.
